What makes it different from Nessus Pro and Tenable.io? 

Tenable.sc runs on Nessus technology and offers more advanced features than Nessus Pro.

Also, Tenable.sc is an on-premise vulnerability management solution. On the other hand, Tenable.io operates directly from the cloud. 

In addition, you take into consideration that scalability is a differentiating factor between both tools: while Tenable.io allows you to get the exact number of licenses you need, Tenable.sc’s licenses can only be increased from 512 to 512 assets.

Creating a scan

• Click on menu Scan -> Active Scans.
• Click on + Add.
• General
  • Name: <any name>
  • Description: <any description>
  • Policy: <choose from list>
  • Schedule: On Demand
• Settings
  • Scan zone: <choose from network segment>
  • Import repository: <choose from list>
  • Scan timeout action: Import Completed Results and Create Rollover Scan
  • Rollover schedule: On Demand
  • Advanced options: select all.
• Targets
  • Target Type: IP / DNS Name
  • Assets: <enter IP or DNS name>
• Credentials
  • + Add Credential: <add the credentials as needed>
• Post Scan
  • E-mail me on launch: false
  • E-mail me on completion: true
  • Reports to Run on Scan Completion: <select a report>
